I am the oldest of 25 grandchildren on my maternal side of the family. On June 10th, we lost the first cousin of this generation. Steve bravely fought a very-rare form of thyroid cancer. He lived a little over a year after a heroic effort. I can't say it any better than his family did.
Welcome to my blog -- Jones Family Matters. Over time, I hope to post stories, pictures, etc. from all of my family lines. The initial posts will be about the Joneses, but I've researched my German, Irish and English roots, too. Surnames I've investigated include: Jones, Ryan, von der Heide, Cronin, Probert, Dailey, Wainright, Reed and Hellmann. I've spent the past year researching my colonial ancestors and hope to share what I've learned throughout 2016.

You are so lucky to have cousins and 25 of them - wow!. I longed for cousins and family all while I was growing up. Maybe that is part of my addiction to family history.
ReplyDeleteMy condolences on your loss.
My husband is in the "same boat" as you. He doesn't have one first cousin -- impossible for me to imagine. It wasn't until I started researching his family that I found he had many second cousins. They were unknown to him because his Catholic grandmother married a divorced man. They disowned her.
